A partial denture is any denture that does not replace all of your teeth. This type of appliance will fill in the places where teeth have been lost.
Partials can be made with cast metal alloy frames that are hypo allergenic and will provide a great deal of support to the appliance and the remaining teeth.
Soft plastic (flexible) partials were developed for patients with metal allergies and have been used successfully for a number of years now. They are an alternative treatment type. They have been used for patients without metal allergies as well, with great success. The benefit of a flexible plastic denture is that “no metal wires” are present. This can make the denture more aesthetically pleasing.
